We are pleased to announce the signing of young hopeful James Phillips.

I’m really grateful to Richard and the Midlands Hurricanes for the opportunity to develop my game and excited for the year ahead. I’m determined to grasp this opportunity and I’m eager to learn and be part of the team that has the ability compete in every league match. I think the Midlands Hurricanes are at the start of something very special and to be part of the first playing squad is fantastic news. Just to train with the squad Richard is building here at the Midlands Hurricanes is an amazing opportunity and I hope to be able to push myself to compete for a place in the match day team.

I’m a former Coventry Bears Junior and understand what the club wants to achieve within League One along with the clubs ethos to engage with the local community.

I’m currently a final year Coventry College student studying sport and playing in the Rugby Academy and have previously played age group representative rugby for Leicestershire County and Warwickshire Schools. I have also been part of the Leicester Tigers Junior Academy and have represented the Welsh Exiles programme from U15 – U18 age group. I’m currently captaining and playing colts rugby for Lutterworth RFC. I’d like to thank everyone who has worked with me and helped me to get this opportunity.
