Antony Bowman 

Loose Forward Bowman joins us from Championship club Batley Bulldogs after spending two seasons at the West Yorkshire club. Previous to that he has enjoyed time at Halifax, Swinton, Oldham and a successful stint in Australia at Rockingham Sharks.

Anthony is a huge signing for us this year and I'm delighted to get him on board for the 2022 season. After numerous conversations with him it showed the wealth of experience and ability he has as a player. Anthony has been around at Championship level for a few years now and played at some top teams and knows the level of competition needed to compete. Anthony also gained experience in Australia. He was there a long time and whatever level you play at out there it's going to be tough. The last two seasons he has spent in the Championship with Batley and was playing week in week out consistently until he picked up a couple of knocks. He has additional appeal because he can play in a few positions. That gives us options which is always important and handy to have especially when he causes as much threat as he does with the ball. This is a big year for him with the World Cup around the corner and I have every confidence that he will be in that Ireland Squad at the end of the year. 

Anthony commented:

I decided to join for a couple of reasons, I was actually planning on retiring just because of work commitments and other external factors, however looking how understanding and flexible the club and Rich was it was an easy decision. Plus the fact I believe this club is on the rise and I feel with the experience I can bring and hopefully assist with the team I feel we can be pushing at the very least for the play offs. That combined with the fact it’s my last chance to play in a World Cup it’s something I would love to bow out on and have a massive season!
